Sam Pearsall retired in January 2013 after serving 35 years as an ecologist; working with conservation organizations in Maine, Tennessee, Hawaii, and North Carolina. Now living in Raleigh, NC with his wife Linda, who has nicknamed him "The Help," Sam pursues his hobbies including traveling, storytelling, gardening, hand drumming, making fused glass, peddling, paddling, perambulating, and puttering. He does a lot of puttering! His stories are all true tales and tall tales. The former are all based on personal experiences, and so are the latter.

Ambrose Bierce fought for the North in the War Between the States. Wounded in battle he turned to his talents as a writer, a journalist. His stories, reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, reflect on soldiering in the Civil War. Master Storyteller Drew Bridges has been working closely with the spirit of Mr. Bierce for several years and has convinced him to join us for "Reflections on War and Soldiering."

Chris Wise is a retired soldier, story teller, song maker, folk song singer, weaver, holder of a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours) in War Studies from the University of Baluchistan, and a fanatic fan of the Durham Bulls baseball club. In recent years he's been exploring the extremely permeable boundaries separating story-telling, folksong, folktale, the truth, fabrications in the search of truth, meditations on the meaning of truth, and outright lies.
